Global lean benchmarking
We were engaged by the COO of a £3bn business to benchmark lean/operational excellence progress across the group of 18 global manufacturing facilities.
We created a practical assessment tool for benchmarking complete operations in each division.
Carried out full factory floor assessment (dock-to-dock) on all aspects of lean, including an assessment of management system and the management team capability. Lean capability skills at management level were also assessed.
After completing the assessments on time and with full co-operation of divisional MDs:
Results and feedback were given along with clear priorities.
90% of divisions incorporated large elements of the assessment outcome into their Policy Deployment.
The assessment is now being used internally to drive the group lean strategy, a task for which I was retained to support and advise.
